Note: New digital toll system in Switzerland from 2026
Switzerland is modernising its toll system and will switch to a digital 4G platform for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes from early 2026. This means that the current 2G technology will gradually be phased out.
At Gabriëls, we are actively preparing for this transition. The new 4G OBUs are currently still under development and therefore not yet available. New customers will temporarily receive a 2G OBU. Please note: as of 2026, this can no longer be used for Switzerland, unless the Switzerland function has already been activated in 2025. In that case, your 2G OBU is guaranteed to remain usable until the end of June 2026, thanks to an official transition arrangement with the Swiss toll operator BAZG.
We will keep you proactively informed as soon as the 4G OBUs become available. This way, you can be sure to switch in time and keep driving in Switzerland without worries.
