Switzerland switched to a new toll system in 2026

At the beginning of 2026, Switzerland introduced a modernised digital toll system for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. This system is based on 4G technology and replaces the former 2G solution.

In cooperation with the Swiss customs authorities (BAZG), a transition period was put in place to allow users to adapt in time.

Your current 2G Gabriëls OBU remains usable in Switzerland until the end of September 2026. After that, switching to a 4G OBU will be required. With this new OBU, you will be fully equipped to pay tolls across Europe.

Do you have any questions, or would you like to know which OBU solution best suits your situation? Our specialists are happy to help. Contact us.
